The hare and the turtle.

In the world of the animals, there was a very arrogant hare because she said to everyone she

was the fastest. That’s why she was always laughing at the slow turtle.

-Look at the turtle! Hey turtle, don’t run so much that you’re going to get tired of going so fast!

The hare used to say laughing at the turtle.

One day, they were talking and it occurred to the turtle to make a strange bet with the hare.

-I’m sure I can win you a race- she said.

- To me?- asked the hare astonished.

-Yes, to you. Let’s put our bet on that stone and let’s see who wins the race.

The hare, very amused, accepted. All the animals met to watch the race. The road and the

finishing line were marked. Once it was ready, the race started among big applauses.

Relying on her speed, the hare left the turtle go and she remained lazing about. She had time

enough to win such a slow creature!

Then she start running, she run fast as the wind while the turtle went slow but without

stopping. At once she went ahead. She stopped next to the road and she sat to rest.

When the turtle passed by her side, the hare made fun of her once more. She left her

advantage and set out her quick walk. She did the same several times but, in spite of her

mocks, the turtle kept her way until she arrived to the finishing line. When the hare woke up,

she ran with all her might but it was too late, the turtle had won the race.

That day was very sad for the hare and she learnt a lesson she would never forget: you must

never mock of the others.

La liebre y la tortuga.

En el mundo de los animales, había una liebre muy arrogante porque le dijo a todos que ella

era la más rápida. Por eso siempre se reía de la tortuga lenta.

-¡Mira la tortuga! ¡Oye, tortuga, no corras tanto que te vas a cansar de ir tan rápido! - solía

decir la liebre riéndose de la tortuga.

Un día, estaban hablando y se le ocurrió a la tortuga hacer una apuesta extraña con la liebre.

-Estoy seguro de poder ganarte una carrera- dijo ella.

- ¿A mí? - preguntó la liebre asombrada.

-Si a ti. Pongamos nuestra apuesta en esa piedra y veamos quién gana la carrera.

La liebre, muy divertida, aceptada. Todos los animales se reunieron para ver la carrera. El

camino y la línea de meta estaban marcados. Una vez que estuvo listo, la carrera comenzó

entre grandes aplausos.

Confiando en su velocidad, la liebre dejó ir a la tortuga y ella permaneció recostada. ¡Tenía

tiempo suficiente para ganar una criatura tan lenta!

Luego comienza a correr, corre rápido como el viento mientras la tortuga avanza lentamente

pero sin detenerse. De inmediato se adelantó. Se detuvo junto a la carretera y se sentó a

descansar.

Cuando la tortuga pasó a su lado, la liebre se burló de ella una vez más. Ella dejó su ventaja y

se dispuso a caminar rápido. Ella hizo lo mismo varias veces pero, a pesar de sus burlas, la

tortuga siguió su camino hasta que llegó a la línea de meta. Cuando la liebre se despertó,

corrió con todas sus fuerzas, pero era demasiado tarde, la tortuga había ganado la carrera.

Ese día fue muy triste para la liebre y ella aprendió una lección que nunca olvidaría: nunca

debes burlarte de los demás.

->Este cuento enseña que no hay que burlarse de los demás ya que las apariencias engañan. Además, con esfuerzo y perseverancia se puede llegar a la meta.
